Busy Weekends

Weekends around here are very busy...especially for a baby and her daddy. This is how they spend their time.

Penelope & Daddy Day

Today was Penelope and Daddy day.  I was in the Arizona room most of the day (except for feeding times) working away at my craft table.  Today's craft was a Tummy Time Mat for Penelope to work on strengthening her neck and back muscles.  I used scraps of fabric from my bucket and made her a cute little mat to play on.  It has a pillow to prop her up on along with 4 loops that snap so we can attach toys for her to play with.  The pillow will snap off too so I can wash everything as needed.  It turned out pretty cute. I am pretty excited about it.  Penelope hung out with her Daddy all day.  They watched tv, played on the computer, kept up with the Aggie baseball game and napped.  It was a hard day for them...

She seemed to like it.  We played on it for about 5 minutes. At first she tried to pull her legs up under herself and move.  It didn't go over so well considering she has little upper body muscle...

At first she thought the pillow was just to rest her cute little head on.

 Then she figured out how it worked!  I laid in front of the mat and talked to her to try and get her to pull her head up and look at me. 

Friday!

Today we ventured out to Chandler.  We stopped by GoGoNatural and then went to Modern Mommy.  Penelope has been battling gas lately.  We have gotten though it, but I feel so bad for the little one.

She looked super cute today (like normal) but she really didn't want her picture taken.

Since someone....(cMoOuMgh) always complains there are no pictures of me on here...these are for you.  She really likes to curl up on your chest and sleep.  When she is super cuddly this is pretty much all she wants.  Today she is being cuddly.

New Adventures!

Monday night I decided to let Penelope sleep instead of waking her up at 1:00 to see how long she would go.  She slept for 6 hours!  Tuesday night she didn't sleep as long, only 4 hours.  Last night she slept for 7 hours, ate and slept for 3 more!  She is doing so good!  We are really excited!  We are hoping to have her sleeping in her own room soon.


Tuesday Penelope and I went to the dentist for me to get my teeth cleaned and her to hang out with Aunt Amy! They rocked and talked while I got my teeth worked on.  She wore her little pink dress from Matt & Megan.  She wore her bright green diaper to match her cupcake!  

Wednesday we decided to venture to the grocery store!  She did great!!  She slept in the Maya Wrap while I slept.

This was at 8:50 this morning while still sleeping. 

And today we wore our first pair of baby legs! They are still a little big but super cute!!

Today we plan to hang out at the house and relax! Tomorrow we will probably venture out again! Such a sweet baby girl!

Today Meredith had to go back home so Penelope spent most of her day with Aunt Mimi.  Mom got a nap! Yay!  We took Meredith to the airport at 4 but didn't get out for much of anything else.  Penelope has been having some issues with gas in her tummy but we are learning how to make it all better.  We are all learning!  Here is today's picture!

The Weekend!

We have had a busy, fun weekend!  Friday Meredith and I were at the house most of the day just hanging out except a short period where we went to Carter's and Target to get a few things.  Penelope sported a cute little outfit:

On Saturday we went to a Diaper Change.  There were people all over the nation who changed cloth diapers all at the same time on Saturday to set a world record for the most cloth diapers changed at once and to raise awareness for cloth diapers and how good they are for the world and babies.  It was a cool experience!  We got fun swag bags that had several samples of laundry detergents, reusable wipes and some coupons!  There were also some people selling diapers, gently used or new along with some other baby & diaper stuff.  After the change they had some prizes.  I won a Maya Wrap!  I will post pictures of it when I figure out how to use it!  Here are some pictures from the Change.  

Penelope wore a dress her Grandma made that we got soooo many compliments on!  She looked so stinkin cute!

This guy won dad of the day award in my book because he stood behind his wife & baby holding a blanket up for shade.  Here is is messing with his phone, but most of the time he held it flat out to block sun!  How sweet!

Today we went to church, napped, and hung out.  To church Penelope wore a dress smocked by Grandma that was her Aunt Mimi's when she was a baby.  She also wore her sweet little shoes!

Meredith leaves tomorrow and this week will be nice and busy.  Penelope and I are going to start baby massage classes this week along with some friends of ours. There is also a place out here that does free swim lessons until 6 months old we are going to look into .  It should be a fun week!

Thursday

Today Meredith (Chris's sister) flew in to spend a few days with us.  This morning Penelope and I got up, went to the airport to get Meredith, had breakfast, went to the doctor, went shopping and had lunch with Chris then headed home.  

The doctor's appointment went really well. Dr. Alexander was really happy with her weight gain and was very pleased with how she is doing!  She weighed in at 8 lb 9 oz today!  She is growing SO much!  Our little cutie!

This afternoon she was worn out...that left the afternoon for naps...it was a good one...

Pictures from yesterday.  We went and got weighed then went to the Department of something or another to get Penelope's birth certificate then headed home.  She was out for the morn so she needed a good afternoon nap and I couldn't get her to calm down to sleep, but she wanted to sleep so we busted out the Moby and she curled up and slept!  Sweet Baby girl!

Lessons Learned...

Tonight we learned an important lesson...if baby is sleeping in rocker and the show is funny...Chris shouldn't laugh really loud because it startles and upsets baby.  We were watching an episode of How I Met Your Mother tonight and Chris thought it was extremely funny.  At one point he all of a sudden busted out laughing and made little Penelope jump and very upset.  If I hadn't just gotten her settled and my food to eat dinner it would have been much funnier...although as the show went on it became much funnier and in attempts to not wake P back up he was having to laugh silently and at one point covered his face with a pillow.  It was quite humorous to watch.

Today Penelope napped for the first time in her crib.  She only slept for about 30 min at a time but she did nap in there twice. Yay!  I was very excited about this since every place she has slept thus far is in some sort of contoured place so sleeping on the flat mattress is a change.

Tomorrow we go get weighed and get her birth certificate!  Should be a fun day!

Monday...

Yesterday was a cuddle day.  All Penelope wanted to do was cuddle.  That didn't leave much time for me to get anything else done until Chris got home. But Penelope looked super cute in her baby tee and giraffe diaper! :) Super cute baby girl.

Naps

Some days are just good nap days...today was one of them for Chris and Penelope. I have evidence:

Weekends

Weekends are a good time for me to re-energize! Today, for example, I got to take an almost 3 hour nap! I also got the living room picked up, the dishes done and some laundry! Yay! Penelope spent her day with her dad hanging out and napping! They have a good time together!

Today we officially started cloth diapers! So far it has gone well. We have a nice stash with the ones we made and the softbums we bought. The diapers we made work great! We got the softbums to grow with but they fit her now too giving us a good stash!

Most Days...

So we are still adjusting to most days...I am getting better at multitasking so that helps! This week has gone pretty good...we went and got weighed on Wednesday and we are defiantly growing!!  She weighed 7 lb 13 oz!. She gained 12 oz in a week!  Newborn clothes are quickly going out for us because she is so long.  3 month clothes are still pretty big though! Silly girl!

Mondays...

We are still adjusting to Mondays.  After having Dad home all weekend and then hanging out with friends on Easter, we are still trying to figure Mondays out.  Little Miss fought naps all day long.  She barely slept at all during the day.  That being said, I didn't take any pictures yesterday!  So I will post a picture from this morning to make up for yesterday and then later will post today's picture.

Easter Sunday

Today was Penelope's first Easter.  It was also her first trip to church!  She was a little trooper.  She slept through Sunday School and then was loved on by the ladies in the nursery during the service.  They asked if they could keep her.  She is quite wonderful, if I do say so myself...

After church we went to Allison's parents house for lunch and some fun times.  We watched baseball then watched Bubba Watson win the Masters. Penelope visited with almost everyone there but found herself napping with Mel, she does that quite well.

For Easter Penelope had a super cute outfit!  Her little tights had silver mary jane looking shoes on them.  Since she has some long legs the tights were a little short, but she looked so cute!!

Haha!  This makes me smile!  I was trying to wake her up and she was making all kinds of faces at me so I caught this one!

Sorry...

I promise I have not just turned into a total slacker after only starting my blog for 3 days.  I have a valid excuse for not posting the last two days...I have been sick.  Sometime Thursday late afternoon I started to not feel well.  That night I threw up and ended up taking some meds that didn't allow me to nurse for 24 hours. It was a good thing we had a supply of milk already stored up because we needed it!  I spent most of that night actually sleeping and Chris got the night shift.  Then Friday afternoon a friend of ours, Mel, who actually works at Phoenix Children's Hospital, came over and watched Penelope while I slept.  After another pretty good night last night I woke up this morning feeling much more like a normal person!

Thursday Penelope had her second doctor's appointment.  She weighed in at 7 lb 1oz putting her at the 15th percentile.  Dr. Alexander said he would like her to have gained just a little more weight, but it could be that she is just going to be on the thinner side.  We go back in two weeks to check that again. Penelope has been having a lot of "wake" time in that she hasn't been sleeping too much during the day, some, but not really good naps or anything and a few nights had a few cry/screaming fits.  We now believe she wasn't quite getting enough to eat. She would eat then about 30 min to an hour later acting hungry again.  Since we are trying to put her on some-what of a schedule, I wasn't sure if I should feed her again or if she was even really hungry. After talking with the doctor he said that she might really be hungry and that after her food had settled she realized she wanted more so to supplement with a bottle of about an ounce and see what she does.  Since then she has been much sleepier!  We are glad to have that issue solved and Chris is also very glad that Dr. Alexander suggested us using a bottle so now he can feed her with a bottle easily.  That appointment came just in time for me to get sick because he got to feed her a lot on Thursday and Friday!  She has also done really well going between nursing and the bottle, which was a concern of mine.  She is our little trooper!

Today my amazing Aunt Carol posted on her blog some of the pictures she took of Penelope while she was out here.  They are beautiful.  Her blog is ladyinashoe.blogspot.com but I will post a couple of them too.  I will also post my pictures of the day for the last couple of days...

Lorax Day 19!

This was an idea we got off Pinterest and the verse she is beside is Psalm 119.  This picture is extra special because the big Bible she is on is the Wagner family Bible.

I always see sweet pictures of babies on the internet and stuff but its completely different when I see the sweet picture and my heart jumps because I realize its my baby!

I think I need to submit this one to Similiac because the first time I saw it I seriously thought Aunt Carol was showing me a picture from one of their ads..then I realized I knew that little face...

April 4

There is a cute little store in Glendale called Healthy Baby Happy Earth and on Wednesdays they do free baby weighing. Today we went to see how much we have gained. Little Miss Penelope is now back at her birth weight! 7lb 1oz! The lactation consultant we saw before said she would like to see her gain just a little more.  Tomorrow we start our more structured schedule so hopefully that will help out with our weight gain.  We also go see her doctor tomorrow and we will see what he says about her weight gain. Its a rough life going out on the town!

2 Weeks Old

Well little miss is 2 weeks old today!!  Its hard to believe!  We are learning to adjust to our new life.  Last night was rough but we made it through. Today has been a pretty good day.  We took a good nap this afternoon together so I feel all rested.  Chris made it home and he and Penelope are spending some quality time together.

Right now they are in the same position but in the recliner both sleeping.  Its quite sweet. Penelope has decided she likes white noises so Chris downloaded and app on his phone and thats why he has his phone in his hand.  She really likes running water, but seeing has how that will only increase our water bill...phone app it is.  Jet engines make her sleep apparently!  Now we have some friends bringing us dinner and coming to meet our little one.  Should be a good evening.

Please pray for us as we continue this adventure. My biggest struggle is knowing for sure if she has gotten enough food. She is a sweet baby and we are very excited to have her!

Penelope Kay

We are now a family of three!  Yay!  I am hoping to take a picture each day and post it on here with a little bit of how we are doing!  Since I'm almost two weeks in I will post a few pictures today to catch up! 

Yesterday was our first day to just be three of us at home.  Chris took Penelope most of the day so I could get some rest. Today is a lazy day filled with movies and laziness while Chris works! :)  

Each day we are taking a picture of Penelope with a stuffed Lorax so I will post those about once a week so you can see how she has grown in comparison to her Lorax.
